Innfluentials’ Training Director, Mike Connell FBII, has over thirty years in Pubs, Brewery, Restaurant and Hospitality Operations culminating in achieving the accolade of BIIAB NITA Professional Trainer of the Year Award.
He understands the need to develop and deliver relevant training packages that are flexible enough to meet the needs of all people whether they are already working in the industry or thinking about taking up a career in the trade.

Mike Connell Wins Pretigious BII award

Mike Connell, Training Manager for Blackburn-based Daniel Thwaites Brewery, has been announced recipient of the 2009 Bill Hannon Award for exceptional contribution to the industry and the work of BII. The announcement was made at BII’s Annual Lunch, which took place at Grosvenor House on Tuesday 12th May and is sponsored by Sky.

The Award was created in 1995, following the death of Bill Hannon, as a permanent memorial to a man who had a huge influence on the industry. It serves to recognise the hard work that goes on behind the scenes for BII and is awarded to those who give their time and who are very much the unsung heroes and heroines of BII’s success. Without these people BII would certainly not have become the force it is in today’s industry.

Mike was nominated to receive the award by John Melia, BII Client Development Director. John commented: “Mike has been a member of BII for some years and is a former BII NITA Professional Trainer of the Year. Through his role with Daniel Thwaites Brewery, he has been fully supportive of BII and its principles of raising standards.

“Mike has managed a BIIAB approved training centre for a number of years, delivering a variety of BIIAB courses to licensees and staff of Thwaites. In addition, he became secretary for BII’s North West Region three years ago and has once again demonstrated his commitment and support for BII through this role.”

Mike was unable to attend the BII Annual Lunch and will be presented with his award at a separate event. Mary Hannon, widow of the late Bill Hannon, was in attendance at the lunch to hear Mike announced as the recipient.

Working Close with Lancashire Police

Mike Connell is now working closely with Lancashire Police in the delivery of Awareness in Responsible Alcohol Retailing initiatives.

This is to support licensees and staff , particularly through test purchasing campaigns, and ensuring better understanding, awareness and overall professionalism.

NCPLH is now APLH

BIIAB Level 2 Award for Personal Licence Holders

INNfluential would like to inform all of our Customers that the BIIAB Level 2 National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders (NCPLH) has been replaced (with effect from 1^st April 2011) by the BIIAB Level 2 Award for Personal Licence Holders (APLH).

The APLH is accredited on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) , and learners will have to sit the QCF unit The Legal and Social Responsibilities of a Personal Licence Holder. This unit has been collaboratively developed by People 1^st, the Sector Skills Council for the industry, and a number of leading Awarding Bodies including BIIAB.
